2012 Thank you to all who attended yesterday’s Parent Forum. The next Parent Forum is scheduled for Thursday, April 26, and the topic to be discussed is “What can I do at home to assist my child academically?” Our eighth grade students are serving an Italian Dinner this Saturday, February 11, from 5:30-7:30, at the VFW in Oak Bluffs. This is a fundraiser for their April trip to Italy. Tickets are available at school and at the door. $10 for school-age children (five years and younger are free), $15 for adults, and $40 for a family. Project Period begins on Monday for students in grades 5-12. The two-week courses include a Community Service Experience in Vermont, Botball, Fitness, Cooking, Art, A Vermont Winter Hike, and Independent Study projects. The two-week courses will culminate in an Exhibition of the students’ work on Friday, February 24, from 9:00-11:30. All are welcome to come and visit the exhibits. The Dukes County Health Council Youth Task Force invites you to an evening of food and discussion to support you as your children transition through middle school and high school. The date is February 16, 6:00-7:30, and the location is the MVRHS Cafeteria. You are asked to RSVP: ytf.theresa@yahoo.com. We are hosting “School Tours” on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-10:15 in February for families interested in learning more about the Charter School. Ask your friends to call the front desk to make an appointment. The Charter School’s Enrollment Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, March 13. Kindergarten Open House is at 5:30 and Open House for Grades 1-12 is at 6:30. This is a good opportunity for your friends to visit the classrooms and meet the teachers. Roberta Kirn will be leading a Community Sing this Monday, February 13, at 5:00 to celebrate Black History Month. All are welcome.
